"We Love Small Charities" claims risk expert, then proves it with free local training.
This Valentine's Day local charities will benefit from some free Charity Risk advice courtesy of the SpeakUp Forum and sector specialists UK Charity Insurance.
The broker, who sponsored the forum's Big Event 2015 and 2016, will be running an interactive training workshop in Eastbourne on Tuesday 14th February.
Held at 3VA's premises, the morning session is entitled 'How To Manage Charity Risk - your role in ensuring charity robustness' and is suitable for both Trustees and Managers. Aimed at helping attendees tackle their own organisation's risk strategy it
will cover such topics as:
- What are the roles & responsibilities of trustees in managing risk?
- Working with employees and volunteers - things to consider.
- Preparing in advance to survive a catastrophe – reputation and continuity.
- How to protect your trustees as they carry out their duties.
...and much, much more.
Lunch will follow and, in the afternoon, those interested can pre-book a 20-minute one-to-one surgery with an expert from UK Charity Insurance as part of an insurance clinic. Delegates will be able to ask questions about their own charity's needs and
even receive an interim insurance review, with UK Charity Insurance guiding them towards an action plan for renewal.
Neil Franklin, MD at UK Charity Insurance said "It's great to be working with SpeakUp again. We see so many organisations that don't have the neccesary expertise in-house and don't know where to go for the best advice. Sometimes they can't even afford it. It's our
pleasure to be able to support the aims of SpeakUp Forum and help small charities; those who do a great work, often on the smallest of budgets."
Meanwhile, Rebecca Luton, Project Support Officer at SpeakUp commented "We’re really grateful to UK Charity Insurance for sponsoring the SpeakUp Big Event over the last two years, and are happy to see their ongoing commitment to the local sector, again giving their time and expertise at no cost. The Big Event 2016 was so busy that many VCOs missed out on this great opportunity for some free charity risk advice – here’s another chance, I would encourage VCOs to go for it!”
To book for either or both sessions charities should email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone Nick Day on 01424 205002 by Friday 10th February.
